Metal-Free Aesthetic Crowns

Zirconia Crowns

Esthetics

Porcelain fused to zirconia crowns are the latest technology in the field of dental esthetics and are also the ideal solution for a perfect smile.

Unlike the porcelain fused to metal crown that is classically supported by metal, the porcelain fused to zirconia crown is supported by zirconium oxide – a very hard, white material that is very compatible with the human body. It has a far better aesthetic aspect than metal, it is very resistant and has a specific transparency which makes it almost identical to a natural tooth.

Zirconium oxide isn’t molded or manually processed in a laboratory, but rather milled using CAD/CAM technology – Computer Assisted Design / Computer Assisted Manufacturing – the robot of error-less dental technique. Therefore, the crown is obtained through the computerized milling of a zirconium block, after which ceramic layers are added. The end result is very aesthetically pleasing and durable.

The advantages of porcelain fused to zirconia crowns:

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ZIRCONIA?

  • Extraordinary aesthetic results
  • Perfectly biocompatible and do not cause allergies
  • Very resistant and can easily handle the masticatory forces
  • Very small affinity for bacterial plaque
  • They do not suffer from corrosion, therefore the grey line that appears on the gum when using porcelain fused to metal crowns does not appear when using zirconia crowns.
  • They are translucent and allow light to pass through them as in the case of a natural tooth.
  • Accommodation for this type of crowns is very fast. A short period of time after the cementing of the crowns, they integrate perfectly and become imperceptible for the patients.
  • The precision of the porcelain fused to zirconia crowns is guaranteed by the computer-designed internal structure
  • They preserve the dental tissue. The tooth preparation required for the reduction is minimal, which means that more dental tissue is preserved.
  • Dental zirconium DOES NOT cause pulp (nerve) irritations

The disadvantage of porcelain fused to zirconia crowns is that they are more expensive than the porcelain fused metal crowns.
